Tie a person to a unit and a period you would defend in writing.

Add the tenant before the lease. The lease is the link, not the person record.
Dates you can defend
If the start or end is messy, write the dates you would stand behind on paper.
Attach the contract
Upload the signed PDF on the lease. That is the current version until you replace it.
